International Festival at Russian State Social University

RSSU held People’s Friendship Festival for the first time in its history.

The idea to organize this spectacular event belongs to Zhanna Mkoyan, undergraduate student of RSSU Faculty of Economics:

“I was only a second year student when I realized that it would be nice to organize international festival, since there are representatives of so many nationalities studying in our University”.

Hence, on April 29, 2016 students from 9 countries took part in the RSSU 1st People’s Friendship Festival. International students made a video presentations about their countries, along with special performances showcasing  national culture, traditions and unique traits of its people.

Dagestanian students swept RSSU concert hall with rhythms of lezginka and concluded their performance with a recitation of the great avarian poet Rasul Gamzatov.  Armenian participants introduced the audience to special features of weddings in their country. Russian students presented their national dance.

Students from Korea performed a Korean folk song and then danced to the sensational k-pop song “Gangnam Style”.  Participants from Latin America nearly ignited the stage performing fiery tango and salsa dances.  

It’s noteworthy that most of the students were dressed in national costumes of beautiful and vibrant colors. Tangible cordial atmosphere prevailed at this amazing event and every performance was warmly received by the audience. As a conclusion of the festival the participants treated impressed quests of the event with their national dishes.

The event was organized with support of RSSU Department of Youth Affairs.
