In March 2016 RSSU jointly with MISIS visited the Dominican Republic. During the visit delegation of RSSU concluded an agreement with Autonomous University of Santo Domingo and agreed upon cooperation with Higher Teacher Training Institution of Salome Ureña.
Autonomous University of Santo Domingo was founded in 1538 and is considered to be the only state university and the largest university in the Dominican Republic. Nowadays more than 187 000 students are studying in this University, they represent 70% of all students in the country.
The agreement between RSSU and AUSD is aimed to facilitate launching of a preparatory faculty in AUSD. The faculty will welcome students aspiring to study in Russian universities. Besides, RSSU will assist AUSD in development of Russian language courses which by now are available only in one of 18 campuses of the University.
Higher Teacher Training Institution of Salome Ureña of the Dominican Republic is interested in implementing postgraduate programs in collaboration with RSSU, especially the programs connected with Pedagogical Sciences. The counterparts will also consider an opportunity for Dominican postgraduate students to study at the RSSU branch in the University of Guantanamo (Cuba).
Rector of Higher Teacher Training Institution of Salome Ureña, Dr. Julio Sanchez Mariñez:
“Dominican Republic is looking for new approaches in training of specialists in Pedagogical Sciences which are really few in our country. Hopefully, we’ll be able to solve this issue in collaboration with RSSU”.
